It's been a while since I've picked up a book that was more "romance" than "paranormal". So, going into this one, I wasn't so sure if I was in the mood for something like this. Apparently, I was because I really enjoyed it.

If you like your books very sexy and with super-macho Alpha heroes, then you should pick this one up. The heroine, Alexandrine, was relegated to the damsel-in-distress role in the beginning, but she wasn't stupid and she did fight back on several occasions. The whole "overcoming hate" part of the plot was interesting too. It definitely added a bit of kinkiness to some of the characters sexual urges.

My only issue with this story deals with how much Xia liked being in control of Alexandrine's magic. Without giving too much away, I'll just say that it seemed a bit too much like a "wife-beater" sentiment to me. It also causes a bit of an issue between the two of them, which is never truly resolved by the end of the story.

Overall an enjoyable, light, and sexy read.
