April in Review
Let's see, how did my month go...
I recommended some great chick-lit/contemporary romances by Kristan Higgins, a guilty-pleasure teen series and some new urban fantasy/paranormal romance series,
I received a ton of great books that I can't wait to read,
I spotlighted a few future releases on my wish list,
I got through 3 books thanks to the 24 Hour Read-a-thon,
I featured a few things from around these here internets,
I shared my thoughts on the importance of liking a protagonist when reading and reviewing
and, of course, I reviewed some books too:
- Wings by Aprilynne Pike (C)
- Truly, Madly by Heather Webber (A-)
- The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg (B)
- Set Up in SoHo by Dee Davis (C)
- After by Kristen Harmel (C)
- Shadow by Jenny Moss (B-)
- She's So Dead to Us by Kieran Scott (B)
- The Mage In Black by Jaye Wells (A-)
- Mistwood by Leah Cypess (B+)
- The Turning: What Curiosity Kills by Helen Ellis (C+)
- The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong (A)
- The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (B+)
- The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong (A+)
- The Karma Club by Jessica Brody (B+)
- The Mage in Black (Read Your Own Books Challenge)
- The Awakening (RYOB Challenge)
Sadly, I didn't get to anything for the Finish That Series Challenge. :( Alas, there's always next month.
Of course, there's only so much time. Here's what I read but haven't reviewed yet:
Of course, there's only so much time. Here's what I read but haven't reviewed yet:
- Silver Borne
(Mercedes Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs (A)
- The Spellmans Strike Again
(Izzy Spellman Mysteries, #4) by Lisa Lutz (A)
- Heist Society
by Ally Carter (A-)
- The Beautiful Between
by Alyssa B. Sheinmel (B+)
- Getting Revenge on Lauren Wood
by Eileen Cook (A-)
- My Name Is Memory
by Ann Brashares (B+)
- My Soul to Keep
(Soul Screamers, Book 3) by Rachel Vincent (A-)
- Runaway
(Airhead, #3) by Meg Cabot (B-)
And since I don't review everything that I read, here are some novels that I've read this month, recommend for you to check out and won't review:
- Succubus Shadows
(Georgina Kincaid, #5) by Richelle Mead, 2010 - OMG!!! Had me so emotional. I can't wait for the final book!
- Spider's Bite
(Elemental Assassin, #1) by Jennifer Estep, 2010 - See my recommendation here
- Magic Lost, Trouble Found
(Raine Benares, #1) by Lisa Shearin, 2007 - Funny, action packed, very unique and a great love triangle!
- Cross My Heart and Hope to Spy
(Gallagher Girls, #2) Ally Carter, 2007 - Somehow I ended up
skipping the first book but I found that I still really enjoyed this one. Great humor and concept. Cammie is an awesome heroine - a bad-ass in the making.
- Grimspace
(Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre, 2008 - Showed me what a mistake I've been making by writing off sci-fi romances!
- Something About You
by Julie James, 2010 - I enjoyed James's Just the Sexiest Man Alive
but I thought that it was missing something. Whatever it was, Something About You has it! (I think maybe because it was a bit steamier...)
Unfortunately, I occasionally pick up a book that I can't get through. Here's April's DNFs:
- Karma Girl
(Bigtime, #1) by Jennifer Estep, 2007 - Proof that just because you like one book by an author, it doesn't mean that you'll like all of their work.
- Forbidden Boy
by Hailey Abbott, 2008 - The first and (probably) last time that I'll try this author.
- Divorced, Desperate And Dating
by Christie Craig, 2008 - I don't understand what happened here. I enjoyed the previous book, Divorced, Desperate and Delicious
, even if it was just fluff.
What about you? What did you read this month? Was there anything you couldn't finish? What do you recommend?
