July in Review
I had a rough month, so there wasn't much reviewing going on. Here's what I did accomplish, though.
Reviewed books (linked to the review):
- Barely a Lady by Eileen Dreyer (D)
- Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden (C+)
- All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins (A-)
- And One Last Thing... by Molly Harper (B+)
What I read but haven't reviewed yet (linked to Amazon):
- A Groom of One's Own
by Maya Rodale (C+)
- Crazy for Love
by Victoria Dahl (C+)
- CaddyGirls
(ebook) by V.K. Sykes (B)
- Wicked Intentions
by Elizabeth Hoyt (A)
- **The Hunger Games
(audiobook) by Suzanne Collins (I had already read the actual book, but I listened to the audiobook for the first time in prep for Mockingjay)
Challenge books & Recommendations (linked to Amazon):
- Read Your Own Books Challenge
- Bloody Jack (audiobook) by L. A. Meyer - Mary "Jacky" Faber is one of the most fun heroines around! Plus, the book is full of non-stop adventure and intrigue. The audiobook's narrator, Katherine Kellgren also did a great job. I can't wait to read the next books.
- Loving a Lost Lord
(ebook)
by Mary Jo Putney - Better than I expected. The romance between Adam and Mariah is sweet and realistic, despite the far-flung plot. I'm definitely going to check out more of Putney's work.
- Baby Bonanza
(ebook)
by Maureen Child - Not memorable; not recommended.
- Vegan Virgin Valentine
by Carolyn Mackler - Not my favorite Mackler, but the woman can't write a bad book. The dichotomy between the uptight Mara (our heroine) and her wild-child cousin, V, made for a great story.
Unfortunately, I got nothing read for the Finish that Series Challenge :(
- Chasing Silver
(ebook) by Jamie Craig - The writing wasn't bad, but I found myself bored with the story and the characters about 1/3 of the way in. Plus, the almost instant love between the hero and heroine was too much of a stretch.
- Demonfire
(ebook) by Kate Douglas - Pretty much the same issues as Chasing Silver, with even more stretching.
What did you read this month? Was there anything you couldn't finish? What do you recommend?

I can't wait to read your review of Hoyt's Wicked Intentions. I loved it, what a great start to a new series.
