Synopsis:
Mollie McGree is on a mission to seduce her best friend, the sexy masseuse Juan-Carlos. But she wants to lose a few extra pounds first. She joins a gym run by self-made millionaire and personal trailer, Conner Bean. Conner thinks Mollie doesn't need to lose any weight, and is perfect the way she is. He plans to seduce the curvy Mollie by giving her his own special training sessions in passion and desire.KT Grant's For the Love of Mollie is more sensual than most of my reads so be forewarned, it's not for the faint of heart. That said, it was new romance territory for me making it a refreshing read. I haven't come across many heroines that could be labelled as larger women. Curvy, sure - but Mollie thinks that she's a bit more than that. Her insecurities were understandable and completely relatable. Who hasn't had a body image issue at some point? At times, I found Mollie's constant harping on her weight issues to be annoying, however that's mostly due to my personal impatience than any characterization issues.
Soon Mollie is enjoying a no-holds-barred love affair with the vibrant and skilled Conner. But self-esteem issues on her part, as well as her unresolved feelings for Juan-Carlos, cause her to second guess Conner's motives. Conner will stop at nothing until he claims Mollie's heart for his own.
The hero, Conner, was also interesting. I found his adoration of Mollie utterly endearing and his perseverance in the face of her insecurities and obvious desires for her friend, Juan-Carlos, admirable. The two of them fall into bed with each other quickly. While I understand that the short length of the novel has something to do with this, I still wish that there had been more build-up of the tension. I also had some moments where I felt the dialog was off. The word choices sometimes felt odd or forced for normal, contemporary people.
Despite my complaints, I liked the premise behind For the Love of Mollie. I think that Grant's plotting was good and I'm interested to see where - and how far - she goes in her fairly new career.
